Ten apprentices from KSB.

Faces of the future

Six apprentices talk about the reasons they chose KSB.

To keep developing highly efficient and reliable solutions also in the future, KSB is committed to training new talent. Six apprentices of the Halle, Frankenthal and Pegnitz sites share their reasons for choosing an apprenticeship with KSB and what they like most about their job.

Marcel Guthor (24 years old), apprentice as a warehouse logistics specialist in Frankenthal

"What I like best about KSB is the team spirit."

"Before joining KSB, I had already completed an apprenticeship as a retail salesman and worked at a DIY store, but I never felt that happy there. It was a temping agency who brought me to KSB. I got to know the company as a leased employee for 1.5 years. My colleagues suggested I should apply for an apprenticeship as a warehouse logistics specialist to develop my full potential – that's what I did.

What I like best about KSB is the team spirit. You are never alone, and you are supported in your apprenticeship, wherever possible, for example by courses. This is why KSB’s apprentices are among the top finishers. Our work is characterised by great trust from both sides, and we are given a lot of freedom. I like that my apprenticeship covers many different tasks. Once I have completed it, I will have many opportunities for the future.”

"The structured training schedule gives me confidence."

"After completing high school, I did a few internships in administration, insurance and marketing. I noticed that I enjoy being creative at work and that I like variety. In my apprenticeship as an industrial business management assistant I get to know departments such as purchasing, sales, materials management and marketing. I keep meeting new and interesting people. As a large international company, KSB can cover all these fields.

And yet, there is a familiar atmosphere in the company. Right from the job interview I had a good feeling about the place. The large, lively factory was also exciting for me. It is like you can actually watch innovations being created. Many activities are put on for us apprentices, such as induction weeks, a production internship, apprentice breakfasts, and workshops in our modern vocational training centre. We also get the opportunity to attend trade fairs and visit suppliers. The structured training schedule gives me confidence. Working with the latest technical equipment in particular makes training fun.”

"At KSB I can make a positive contribution to the key future issue of water."

"Since September 2022 I have been training at KSB to become an industrial mechanic. Right from when I was a child I loved fiddling with motorbikes together with my father. I knew that a technical profession is just the thing for me. From the various apprenticeships I was offered, I chose KSB because water supply affects the whole world. It is a future issue to which I can make positive contribution at KSB.

What I like especially at KSB is the familiar, relaxed atmosphere. It makes working here all the more enjoyable. My family, too, is convinced that KSB was a good choice: When I signed my apprenticeship contract, my father also applied here. He is now an electromechanical engineer at KSB.”

"The dual education programme at KSB is ideal for preparing me for my future working life.”

"I got to know KSB and my head of vocational training at several vocational fairs prior to starting my studies. After two internships with only positive experiences, I was certain that I wanted to study mechanical engineering in KSB's dual education programme. Sciences and technology were the subjects I was particularly interested in over my entire time at school. Studying gives me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge in these fields. I am really looking forward to working as an engineer.

The dual education programme is very special; it is not very common for mechanical engineering. It means that in parallel to studying, I am completing an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic. Gaining practical experience through my apprenticeship has proven a major benefit for my studies. For example in design and engineering, it was very useful having already experienced the installation of rolling element bearings. In fluid dynamics, too, I had it a lot easier than my fellow students as I had learned a lot about pumps in my practical factory sessions. This is why I believe the dual education programme is very successful; I can wholeheartedly recommend it.”

"What I like best is the solidarity among colleagues.”

"When I did a factory internship through my vocational secondary school, I noticed that I am quite handy with tools. Some of my friends told me about KSB and advised me to apply for an apprenticeship. A major drawcard for me was that KSB is a very future-proof employer, who offers many options of further training and opportunities after the apprenticeship.

Opting for a foundry mechanic apprenticeship was the right choice for me. It is very diverse, and I like new challenges. I enjoy trying new things and I want to keep developing. What I like best about KSB is the great solidarity among colleagues. Everyone gives and receives trust, which enables us to work very independently.”

"Even as an apprentice, we are shown the same appreciation as our coworkers."

"I found out about KSB from my brother, who did his industrial mechanic apprenticeship here and rated it highly. I definitely wanted to work in a company with a technical background. When I was little, I started helping in my uncle's agricultural business and noticed that I enjoy working with technology. At KSB, we apprentices are shown the same appreciation as our coworkers. We are seen as an important part of the team.

Every three months we get to know a different department, which makes the apprenticeship very diverse and exciting. KSB also supports us with English lessons and teambuilding events. We got to know the other apprentices and the company in an orientation seminar right at the start. In the second year, we all went on an outdoor education trip together to get to know one another even better, and to further ourselves.”
