KSB is off to a successful start in the 2023 financial year

  • Order intake up 12.6 % on the previous year
  • Sales revenue up 19.7 % on the previous year
  • Positive outlook overall

FRANKENTHAL: The pump and valve manufacturer KSB based in Frankenthal has started the new financial year with a significant increase in order intake and sales revenue. The excellent sales revenue performance led to a significant improvement in earnings (EBIT) compared with the same prior-year period.

In the first quarter of 2023, KSB increased its order intake by 12.6 % (+ € 96.3 million) to € 859 million. The Pumps Segment and Valves Segment contributed 8.7 % and 22.3 % to this growth, respectively; KSB SupremeServ, which comprises the service and spare parts business, also grew considerably by 16 %. The Mining Market Area was particularly strong in terms of orders received, benefiting from the very high capacity utilisation levels of mines worldwide. The biggest growth came from the Region Asia, followed by the Region Americas. Growth in Europe and the Region Middle East / Africa / Russia tended to be moderate in percentage terms.

Sales revenue increased significantly in the first quarter by 19.7 % (+ € 110 million) to € 668 million. In addition to the high level of orders on hand from the previous year, combined with a high output in the production plants worldwide, the spare parts business is a key driver for the increase in sales revenue. Thus, KSB SupremeServ contributed 23.0 % growth to the quarterly sales revenue, followed by the Pumps (+ 20.5 %) and Valves (+ 9.3 %) Segments. Almost all Regions recorded double-digit percentage growth in sales revenue.

“We have achieved a strong start to the new financial year, which is particularly gratifying in view of the highly heterogeneous progress of the global economy”, says Dr Stephan Timmermann, CEO. “At the same time we are witnessing an easing in the procurement markets both in terms of availability and price increases. All this makes us generally confident about the further course of the financial year.”

KSB is a leading international manufacturer of pumps and valves. The Frankenthal-based Group has a presence on five continents with its own sales and marketing organisations, manufacturing facilities and service operations. With a workforce of around 15,700, the KSB Group generated sales revenue of € 2.6 billion in 2022.
