Optimizing Jakarta's clean water distribution
Modernizing water infrastructure is a key step toward meeting the needs of growing cities. See how KSB pumping solutions help deliver more stable, efficient, and sustainable clean water distribution.
Ensuring reliable clean water for Jakarta
As Jakarta continues to grow, so does the need for a clean water supply that is both reliable and sustainable. Expanding and modernizing water infrastructure has become the needs to support the city's long-term development.
The recent modernization project, Pejompongan Water Treatment Plant has demonstrates how high-performance pumping technology and intelligent system integration can strengthen large-scale water distribution for one of Indonesia's busiest metropolitan areas.
Supporting one of Jakarta's key water treatment facilities
With a production capacity of up to 3,650 liters per second, the Pejompongan Water Treatment Plant project plays a vital role in supplying clean water to West and North Jakarta.
To enhance its performance, the upgrade focused on three key objectives; increasing water distribution capacity, improving energy efficiency, supporting long-term operational reliability.
Rather than replacing equipment alone, the project adopted an integrated approach by combining advanced pumping technology with intelligent control systems to optimize overall network performance.
High-capacity pumping solutions for urban water distribution
To support the upgraded facility, KSB supplied two vertical pump models designed for high-capacity clean water applications.
The SPNV 500-990C delivers up to 943 liters per second at a 50-meter head, operating at 720 rpm with approximately 83% hydraulic efficiency. Its lower operating speed helps reduce mechanical stress, contributing to longer service life and stable day-to-day operation.
For higher-capacity requirements, the SPNV 600-1190B delivers up to 1,500 liters per second at the same 50-meter head, operating at 590 rpm with an efficiency of up to 84.5%. Designed for large municipal water networks, it combines high flow capacity with optimized energy performance for continuous distribution.
Built for durability and easier maintenance
Both pump models are designed specifically for clean water applications with gland packing shaft seals, allowing routine inspection and maintenance to be carried out more efficiently.
Each installation is equipped with:
- Cardan shaft coupling
- Motor stool
- Coupling guard
- Industrial-grade protective coating
This robust configuration helps simplify maintenance while supporting dependable operation throughout the system's service life.
Smart control for a more efficient distribution network
Beyond the pumping equipment, the project also integrates a District Metered Control Center (DMCC) to improve overall network management.
The system enables real-time monitoring and control across multiple distribution zones, allowing operators to regulate water pressure and flow more effectively.
By combining intelligent monitoring with energy-efficient pumping technology, the solution helps improving water distribution stability, optimizing energy consumption, reduceing non-revenue water, and enhancing overall network efficiency
Supporting Jakarta's sustainable water future
The successful implementation of the SPNV 500-990C and SPNV 600-1190B demonstrates how selecting the right pumping technology can improve the performance of large-scale urban water infrastructure.
By integrating high-capacity vertical pumps with advanced monitoring and control systems, the upgraded Pejompongan Water Treatment Plant is better equipped to provide a stable, efficient, and sustainable clean water supply for Jakarta.
Through application-focused engineering and reliable pumping technology, KSB continues to support essential water infrastructure with solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of growing cities.
