Delivering sustainable clean water access through collaboration and innovation
KSB Indonesia continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable development through initiatives that integrate technology, collaboration, and corporate social responsibility. This commitment was demonstrated through the inauguration of a renewable energy–based village drinking water supply program (PAMDes) in Tumpangkrasak Village, Jati District, Kudus Regency, Central Java, on December 22, 2025.
The program forms part of KSB Indonesia’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and aligns with Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, particularly the goals related to clean water and sanitation. It also supports the Village SDGs agenda, especially the development of clean water and sanitation–ready villages.

Inauguration ceremony and stakeholder participation
The inauguration ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including KSB Indonesia’s management, represented by Arman Reyes Furqon, Finance Director of PT KSB Indonesia; Kudus Regent Dr. Ars. Sam’ani Intakoris, ST., MT; Jati Sub-District Head Muchammad Zainuddin, S.STP; Tumpangkrasak Village Head Sarjoko Saputro; community representatives; and academic partners from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
ITB was represented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Zulfiadi Zulhan, ST., MT, Director of the Directorate of Community Service and Expertise Services (DPMK), along with his team. The presence of these stakeholders highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in addressing clean water challenges at the community level.
Background and clean water challenges
Tumpangkrasak Village is a densely populated area that has faced long-standing challenges related to clean water quality. Most residents previously relied on shallow wells, which have experienced declining water quality due to domestic pollution, proximity to household septic tanks, and limited sanitation infrastructure.
Water conditions characterized by turbidity, odor, and reduced availability during the dry season have posed risks to public health. Field studies also identified potential microbiological contamination, underscoring the need for a safer and more sustainable water supply solution.
An integrated, renewable energy–based solution
To address these challenges, KSB Indonesia, in collaboration with DPMK ITB, implemented an integrated solution that includes:
- Deep well drilling to a depth of 80 meters to access a more secure and protected aquifer.
- Installation of KSB submersible pumps (CORA-1C/21 + UMAISOL 100-0.75/22-I) designed for reliable performance and energy efficiency.
- Utilization of solar panels as the primary energy source, supported by a hybrid operating system with grid electricity to ensure continuous water supply.
- Construction of a 10-meter-high water tower with a storage capacity of 18.8 cubic meters.
- Development of a water distribution network to serve households in stages.
- Strengthening of local water management through the establishment of a PAMDes management unit integrated with the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes), accompanied by technical and managerial training.
Management statement from KSB Indonesia
Teo Boon Teong, Managing Director of KSB Indonesia, emphasized that the program reflects the company’s commitment to delivering sustainable social impact.
“Access to clean water is a fundamental pillar of community health and quality of life. Through this collaboration, KSB Indonesia aims to deliver sustainable solutions that go beyond technology by strengthening village-level management capacity and promoting the use of renewable energy,” said Teo Boon Teong.
Meanwhile, Arman Reyes Furqon, Finance Director of KSB Indonesia, highlighted the importance of governance and long-term benefits for the village.
“We have ensured that this social investment is designed with a robust sustainability approach. By integrating water management with BUMDes, the clean water system is expected to operate independently and transparently, generate economic benefits for the village, and ensure safe and affordable access to clean water for the community,” he explained.
Testimonial from the regent of Kudus
Kudus Regent Sam’ani Intakoris expressed his appreciation for the contributions made by KSB Indonesia and ITB in supporting clean water access for the community.
“We are grateful that Tumpangkrasak Village has received support in the form of two deep wells, one from ITB and one from PT KSB Indonesia. Clean water is a basic necessity and a critical requirement for any region, particularly in safeguarding public health,” said the Regent.
He further explained the importance of improving water quality through deeper aquifer sourcing.
“Many shallow wells have experienced declining water quality due to their proximity to household septic tanks. By sourcing water from deeper aquifers, the water quality becomes significantly better and safer for consumption.”
The Regent also commended the use of renewable energy in the project.
“We highly appreciate the use of solar panel technology as a power source. Green energy initiatives like this need to be continuously promoted in Kudus Regency.”
A continued commitment to sustainability
Through the PAMDes program in Tumpangkrasak Village, KSB Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to integrating technological innovation, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility. This initiative is expected to serve as a model for sustainable collaboration in expanding clean water access and supporting inclusive development in Indonesia.
