Pump and valve manufacturer KSB has appointed Jonathan Samuel as President of KSB Mining. In this role, Samuel will oversee KSB’s global mining and dredge market segment. He will continue to be based in Grovetown, Georgia, at KSB GIW, Inc., KSB’s U.S.-based slurry pump subsidiary and home of GIW® slurry pumps.
Samuel brings more than 30 years of experience in the pumping and mining industries, including nearly three decades with KSB. He began his career at Nerelge Corporation in 1991 as a sales and application engineer after earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. In 1994, he joined KSB Pumps Ltd. in India as a sales engineer and transitioned to KSB GIW in 1999 as an application engineer and project manager.
During his tenure at KSB GIW, Samuel held a wide range of progressively senior sales and management positions, including regional roles spanning Asia, Europe, Australia, Africa, Brazil, and international dredge operations. His leadership positions have included Commercial Director, Senior Project Manager, Business Development Manager, and Region Sales Manager, among others. In 2017, Samuel began his term as Vice President of Sales, and in 2020 his responsibilities expanded to include global hard rock mining.
Samuel was named President and Managing Director of KSB GIW in 2021. Since his appointment, he has led organizational growth, strengthened customer relationships, and advanced GIW® slurry pump products and services worldwide.
As President of KSB Mining, Samuel will direct all mining and dredge operations, oversee market strategy, and pioneer future mining and dredging initiatives. He will report to KSB CEO Dr. Stephan Timmermann and work closely with regional and international KSB mining teams.
“Jonathan Samuel brings extensive industry experience and a strong technical understanding of KSB’s mining business,” said Dr. Stephan Timmermann, CEO of KSB. “We are convinced that he will support the successful implementation of KSB’s long-term strategy across the mining and dredging sectors.”
Samuel’s appointment follows the retirement of Wolfgang Demmler, who concluded a distinguished career with KSB at the end of 2025. Demmler joined KSB in 1990 and went on to hold senior executive posts spanning marketing, strategy, and regional operations in Africa and North America. In 2015, he began his term as Managing Director of KSB GIW, where he guided the organization through a period of significant growth. In 2020, Demmler was named President of KSB Mining, overseeing international mining operations and advancing KSB’s mining solutions portfolio. After returning to Germany in 2021, he continued to contribute to the organization until his retirement.
“We thank Wolfgang Demmler for his many years of dedicated service and wish him only the very best for the coming chapter of his life!” said Timmermann. “His leadership and expertise have played a key role in the development of KSB Mining.”
