Velocity head
Velocity head is the kinetic portion of the head. In accordance with EN 12723, it is the kinetic energy of the fluid handled per unit weight. Alongside pressure head and geodetic height the velocity head is determined in the Bernoulli equation (see Fluid mechanics) as follows:
