KSBi's New Chapter in the "Belt and Road" Initiative

KSBi's New Chapter in the "Belt and Road" Initiative

The Hunutelu Thermal Power Project in Turkey aims to construct a 2x660MW coal-fired power plant in Yumutalık County, Iskenderun Bay, Adana Province, Turkey.

The project has a total investment of approximately $1.7 billion, making it reportedly the largest direct investment by China in Turkey. This project serves as a key point of convergence between China's "Belt and Road" initiative and Turkey's "Middle Corridor" plan, earning recognition from both governments as the flagship project of the "Belt and Road" initiative in Turkey. Once completed, the power generation capacity will account for 4% of Turkey's total electricity generation. The commissioned units will become a crucial power source in Adana Province, Turkey.

KSB is fortunate to be involved in this project, providing comprehensive pump solutions. In addition to supplying the three main pumps for the power plant (boiler feedwater pump, condensate pump, and circulating water pump), KSB has also provided a variety of other auxiliary pumps, including closed-cycle cooling water pumps, low-pressure drain pumps, condensate water transport pumps, and pumps for seawater desalination processes. The total number of pumps supplied is 61. Among them, the boiler feedwater pump plays a crucial "heart" role in the thermal cycle of the power plant. It extracts saturated hot water from the deaerator tank, boosts it to a certain pressure, and continuously delivers it to the boiler, ensuring the continuous and stable operation of the boiler and thermal system.

In March 2022, in response to client requirements, the service personnel from Kaiserbi's Excellence Service Division arrived on-site to provide guidance for installation and commissioning. After more than three months of effort, all on-site water pumps have been successfully installed.

On June 18th at 12:00 local time in Turkey, the 1st unit of the Hunutelu 2x660MW coal-fired power plant project successfully entered commercial operation, while the 2nd unit is currently undergoing testing.

This project is a key and representative undertaking under the "Belt and Road" strategy. KSB is honored to have provided a comprehensive pump solution for the main pump products for this milestone project. This fully reflects the profound recognition the customer has for the Kaiserbi brand, products, and services, and once again demonstrates KSB's continued leadership in technology and the market within the energy sector. The concept of "Ingenuity in Manufacturing" showcases the dual charm of German quality and Chinese manufacturing, and we are incredibly proud to have the opportunity to witness the splendor of the "Belt and Road" initiative and contribute our strength as part of "Made in China."
