KSB Shanghai Chemical Engineering Pump Plant Test Bench Officially Inaugurated
October 15, 2025 – KSB held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially inaugurate the test bench at its Shanghai Chemical Engineering Pump Plant, marking the commissioning of an intelligent testing platform integrating cutting-edge Sino-German technology for the global petrochemical industry. Government officials, KSB global management, technical experts, and media representatives gathered to witness this milestone achievement.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Mr. Zhang Zhixiong, General Manager of Minlian Company and Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Land (Group) Minhong Co., Ltd; Dr. Stephan Bross, Managing Director of KSB Management SE and CEO; Mr. He Jun, REO of KSB Asia North; Mr. Bernd Hoffmann, President KSB Petrochemicals / Chemicals; and Mr. Frank Zhu, MD of KSB Shanghai.
In his address, Mr. Zhang reflected on KSB's 31-year journey in Shanghai's Minhang District—from the 1994 joint venture establishment, through the 2023 chemical engineering pump plant groundbreaking, to today's test bench inauguration. He emphasized that KSB has consistently evolved alongside Minhang, advancing the transformation from "manufacturing" to "intelligent manufacturing," with the test bench representing both KSB's latest digitalization achievement and a new industry benchmark.
Dr. Stephan Bross encapsulated KSB Shanghai's 31-year development with three phrases: "China Speed, German Quality, Bright Future." He expressed strong confidence in the Chinese market, noting that KSB China has become the company's second-largest market globally.
Mr. Bernd Hoffmann thanked the Shanghai Municipal and Minhang District governments for their long-term support. He highlighted that the 2023 chemical engineering pump plant—KSB's largest single investment project in recent years—spans 10,000 square meters with a total investment of approximately RMB 130 million, exemplifying KSB's commitment to localization, digitalization, and sustainable development with dual advantages of environmental friendliness and intelligence.
The newly inaugurated test bench features the world's most advanced pipeline control system. Mr. Frank Zhu enthusiastically announced that pump testing and installation efficiency will increase by 300% compared to previous operations.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Mr. He Jun emphasized that the test bench completion signifies the plant's comprehensive testing capabilities, enabling KSB Shanghai to deliver complete end-to-end technical solutions for petrochemical products in China—a significant milestone for KSB Shanghai's technological development that will inject new vitality into the industry's intelligent testing sector.
Guests subsequently toured the test bench operational demonstration and engaged in in-depth technical discussions. The official commissioning underscores KSB's unwavering confidence in the Chinese market and demonstrates its comprehensive strengths in advanced manufacturing, intelligent testing, and green development.
