Pressure booster systems ensure a constant water supply pressure when the normal mains pressure is insufficient. In modern systems, this is done by one or several variable speed pressure booster pumps installed in a bypass line to the mains water supply line. In order to prevent any pumping in a closed circuit, a non-return valve is fitted in the main water supply pipe between the booster pumps' suction and discharge connections.
