Major order for Algeria At the end of April 2008 the KSB Group received an order in the double-digit million euro range for the supply of products to a new seawater desalination plant to be built in Tlemcen, western Algeria. The order is for 64 pumps and around 1000 butterfly valves. Salt water is very aggressive, so all pumps will be manufactured from different types of corrosion-resistant stainless steel.

Better than new after 40 years’ service Back in 1968, the then publicly owned East German company VEB Pumpenwerke Halle – now KSB – gave the city of Halle a pump to operate its famous fountain with its more than 60 m high water jet on Peißnitz island. The pump, an SGUR, did what pumps do as dependably as clockwork until it was removed last December after close to 40 years’ service.
