KSB at ISH 2013
“Expertise: where little learns from large.” This is the slogan chosen for this year’s KSB presentation at ISH 2013 in Frankfurt.
The Frankenthal-based pump and valve manufacturer plans to show at their stand that although they are used to handling major projects around the world, customers benefit from KSB’s expertise for any application, large or small. As well as a new product called Calio that will only be unveiled on the first day of the trade fair, energy efficiency will be a major focus.
One of the exhibits, showcased for the first time, will be the latest version of the Etanorm type series which KSB has been manufacturing without interruption since 1936. For their revision work, KSB’s engineers made extensive use of computer-aided flow simulations called CFD technology (Computational Fluid Dynamics). They applied the technology to optimise the hydraulic contours. Thanks to their efficient hydraulic system, the pump sets already meet the EU requirements (ErP) of Commission Regulation 547/2012/EC for water pumps, which will enter into force in 2015.
A further highlight in the field of “saving energy” is the SuPremE motor developed by KSB which will be on display at ISH. The synchronous reluctance motor provides users with a technology that is ideally suited to fulfil all future requirements the energy-efficient drives of pumps will have to meet. The motors have at least 15 percent less power dissipation than that prescribed for efficiency class IE3 from 2015 or 2017 by Commission Regulation (EC) 640/2009. This means that they meet the requirements of efficiency level IE4 to IEC/CD 60034-30 Ed. 2 already today. Compared with conventional high-efficiency motors, magnetic materials, the mining of which causes considerable environmental impact in the countries of origin, are not used to manufacture the new motors.
Flow resistance that does not exist does not have to be overcome by a pump. To demonstrate this truism’s validity, KSB will also present several products from its valve range. For example BOAX-SF butterfly valves and SERIE 2000 swing check valves which thanks to their excellent flow coefficients contribute to reducing the energy requirement of pumps.
